Edoardo Mulato

Biography

Edoardo Mulato (b. 1987) is a video artist based in Treviso, Italy. His practice spans moving image, installation, sculpture and filmmaking. He holds a BA in Cultural Heritage Conservation and an MA in Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage from Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He spent seven years in London before beginning his artistic practice in 2020.

His moving-image practice is primarily developed through smartphone footage, recorded during walks through overlooked landscapes, cities and everyday environments. Water, light, architecture, people, animals and the small details of ordinary life are the subjects of his attention. These fragments are then brought into relation during the editing process. The final work emerges through intuition and the gradual discovery of visual connections.

Collaboration with musicians, poets and performers forms an important part of his practice, which is informed by philosophy, esotericism, European cinema and poetry. His practice also includes filmmaking, and he develops screenplays for short and feature films.

Recent work moves into material processes. He transfers printed frames onto metal and alters them by hand to create relics from a forgotten civilisation.
